Indian Institute of Carpet Technology:

· The Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT), Srinagar has been established by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and Industries and Commerce Department Industries, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir with the objective to provide necessary technical support to Carpet Industry of the State.
· The foundation stone for the construction of permanent building of the Institute along with Hostel Block was laid down by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State, late Jenab Mufti Mohammad Syed Sahib in December 2004 on the piece of land at Baghi-Ali-Mardan-Khan, Nowshara, Srinagar owned by Handicrafts Department.
· The Institute was formally inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and the then Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles, Govt. of India on 21-06-2008
Functions · To develop trained human resource for the carpet Industry · To develop carpet designs with the help of Design Software · To upgrade the skill and knowledge level of semi skilled/skilled artisans · To provide technical services to carpet industry · To develop samples of dyed yarn · To participate in promotional and publicity campaigns
